...“What’s wrong with you?” Ty asked.
“Mattress. My parents bought one just for show since they either never expected me to stay or are warning me not to move back in. It’s like a medieval torture device.”
Ty walked up behind him and planted his hands on Jae’s sturdy, square shoulders. He gripped solid muscle and kneaded slowly, wondering who would enjoy this more. “I think I can work on that.”
Jae sighed and allowed himself to relax while Ty dug his thumbs into corded muscle. He loved the feel of him, the warmth of his smooth flesh and the undeniable masculinity of his broad shoulders and strong back. He worked along the column of his neck and along his shoulder blades, then back to his tense shoulders and upper back. Jae breathed deeply, a soft groan passing over his lips.
“Damn you’re good. I should have you give me a rubdown nightly,” he murmured.
Ty leaned over him, his lips brushing Jae’s left ear. “And I’m just getting started.”
Jae turned his head to the side and met Ty for a brief, warm kiss. “That sounds promising.”
The doorbell rang and they exchanged looks before Ty went to answer it. London had been on a shopping spree with ordering shoes and bags online and he expected the FedEx guy—who was fairly hot and looked pretty damn good in shorts—once again needed a delivery signature.
He opened the door and found Shannon in shorts and an army green tank top standing on the porch.
“Oh good,” she said with a forced grin. “I was hoping I wasn’t interrupting you two.”
He looked her over. “No,” he said slowly. “Jae just got home.”
“Home?” she said under her breath. “This is your house, not his.”
Ty furrowed his brow. “Then he just got back to the place where he keeps his stuff and sleeps.”
“Hey,” Jae said from behind. “What are you doing here?”
Shannon looked past Ty and smiled at her brother. “I just realized one of our accounts is ten minutes from here, so I figured I’d stop by and see where you’re staying until the end of the season.”
Ty stepped aside as Jae lead her into the house. He let out a sigh that did nothing to reduce his growing frustration. “Better than some of the other places I’ve stayed over the years. I swear Kalamazoo was one of the worst.”
“The lady in the trailer?”
“Painful to even think about.” He placed his hand on Ty’s shoulder. “This is home sweet home compared to that adventure.”
Shannon pressed her lips together. “Well, hopefully next year you’re in Triple A.”
“That’s where we’d both like to be,” Ty said.
Her gaze flitted in his direction. “I’m sure.”
Jae’s hand slid down Ty’s back. “We were just going to do some cardio. You in, Big Sis?”
“I’m not wearing the proper shoes,” she said. She glanced at Ty’s bare feet. “I guess you aren’t ready either.”
“I’m pretty fast at getting ready,” he replied. He snapped his fingers. “Like that.”
She turned and started toward the door, “Oh, Jae, I almost forgot. My windshield wiper is coming off. Would you mind fixing it for me? I know if I don’t do it now I’ll forget.”
He shrugged. “You’re so helpless sometimes,” he said as he pulled her hair on the way out the door. “Are you going outside or staying?”
“I’ll be right out,” she promised.
“You know I’m charging you for this, right?”
“I expect nothing less.” She chuckled and shook her head as she watched him head out the door. Once he disappeared, she turned toward Ty. “Mind if I sit while he’s fixing it?”
“Go ahead.”
She took a seat on the arm of the couch and crossed her legs. “You’re a great player,” she said without bothering to look at him.
“Looks like I fooled another fan,” he replied, suddenly feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Now that they were alone he was certain she hadn’t just dropped in to say hello.
Shannon looked him over, avoiding his gaze. “I know your friend London thinks very highly of you and Jae really appreciates the company.”
Ty shrugged. “It’s worked out well for both of us.”
“In my opinion, it’s worked out better for you than him.”
He narrowed his eyes. “I’m not sure I follow.”
She met his eye with a steely glare like a pitcher staring down a batter. She was about to throw him something he didn’t like...
