Website Shopping Information
Even though they have separate sections with differences in appearance and content, all of our websites (Amber Quill Press, Amber Heat, and Amber Allure) are linked together as a single unit, meaning that guests and shoppers can browse from one of our imprints to another and maintain their shopping cart data. In other words, the shopping cart registers items selected for each of the three websites, and customers need only to "check out" once at the end of each shopping experience.
What Content Is Included In Your E-Books And Paperbacks?
Our erotica and erotic romance books could contain a wide variety of sexual content, from mild to extremely explicit. The content, as one might expect, depends on both the author and the genre(s) or theme(s) the story encompasses. It is our goal, however, to provide our customers with as much information as possible before they purchase any book. Along with listing an overall description for each specific title, we also include the Genre (or Theme) designations in which we feel the book best belongs, the Heat Level (please click on this Heat Level Info link or the one located in the left sidebar for more information on our three levels of sensual content), and the Length, providing an estimated word count (see section below also). Moreover, when available, we also supply Book Reviews, Short Excerpts, and information on any Writing Awards or Award Nominations the title may have received. We now have hundreds upon hundreds of available titles, with more than two dozen new offerings debuting each month, and as you can tell by viewing the numerous Genres and Themes in the left sidebar, we are more than likely to have at least one title that satisfies your particular tastes. (Please note, Amber Quill Press, including its imprints, does not publish books containing bodily functions, pedophilia, incest, bestiality, or similar extreme topics.)
What Are AmberPax™ / AmberSalePax™ Collections?
Simply put, AmberPax™ Collections are groups of five stories centered around a specific theme. Each story within an AmberPax™ is released individually, on the same day as the others, and can be purchased separately, but these five stories can also be purchased as a single unit (the full AmberPax™) at a 25% discount. Generally, an AmberPax™ is similar to an "anthology" of stories, but instead of the titles being released in only a single volume (file), they are also available individually. These AmberPax™ Collections are sold exclusively through our website and only in electronic format.
AmberSalePax™ Collections, however, are groups of stories (centered around a specific theme) by an individual author. Each story within an AmberSalePax™ is released individually and can be purchased separately, but these stories can also be purchased as a single unit (the full AmberSalePax™) at a 40% discount. Generally, an AmberSalePax™ is similar to an "anthology" of stories, but instead of the titles being released in only a single volume (file), they are also available individually. These AmberSalePax™ Collections are sold exclusively through our website and only in electronic format.
How Long / How Many Pages Are The Books You Publish?
As you will notice when viewing our website pages for individual books, we list the estimated "word count" (rounded to the nearest 1000), or in the case of a book also released in paperback, the actual "page count."
Why don't we list actual page count for electronic releases?
The answer is quite simple and also very logical, especially regarding this new medium of electronic-publishing where technology allows endless reader flexibility...unlike paperback releases, where (depending on the printer's and formatter's procedures that are set in stone, or paper, in this case, which determines specific page counts), electronic versions can not be accurately listed regarding "page count," for one very important reason...depending on the software (e-reading devices) being implemented to read our books, as well as the file types (PDF, LIT, RB, HTML, etc.) being purchased, the various font sizes that can be selected by customers when using their preferred e-reading device, as well as the margins and page height and width by which our staff formats each title, the page counts will always fluctuate, sometimes by several if not dozens or hundreds of pages. No standard exists in the publishing industry regarding file formatting, which means that, for example, a 30,000 word novella published by one company may register as 100 pages on your preferred reading software, while a book with the same word count produced by another company may be 200 pages on the exact same reading software. Again, font size, margin width and height, white space between lines, etc. all play a role in how many "pages" appear on the device one uses to read electronic books. The same basic logic extends to paperbacks, since every publishing house that produces bound copies of their books has its own formatting style, including font and font size, page height and width, margin space, etc. Therefore, when it comes to electronic publishing, "word counts" as opposed to "page counts" are the only "accurate" estimation of book length that can be listed for the titles, especially when no paperback equivalent is available.
With that concept in mind, books released electronically fall into one of seven word-count categories:
- Amber Brief: 2,500 - 4,999 Words
- Amber Kiss: 5,000 - 10,000 Words
- Extended Amber Kiss: 11,000 - 17,000 Words
- Novella: 18,000 - 29,000 Words
- Extended Novella: 30,000 - 40,000 Words
- Novel: 41,000 - 70,000 Words
- Extended Novel: 71,000+ Words
All of our "novel-length" titles are typically available in both electronic and paperback formats. (Please note: Due to printing schedules and shipping times, the paperback versions of our books are usually released anywhere from one to four weeks after their electronic counterparts.) Although our shorter releases (Amber Briefs, Amber Kisses, and Novellas) are initially released only in electronic format, a paperback version of these titles may appear at a later date in the form of "single-author" anthologies / collections. When a title is available in a paperback version (either on its own or as part of an anthology / collection) we will indicate it on the individual book page and on our "Shop By Title" page.
Payment Methods / Credit Card vs. PayPal
Amber Quill Press, LLC, (which includes the Erotica and Erotic Romance imprint Amber Heat) accepts payment through all major credit cards on a secure server.
PayPal users, beware...Although some customers who do not have credit cards would like us to offer the option of using PayPal to make purchases, recent actions taken by PayPal in accordance with their "Acceptable Usage Policy" (specifically the selling of anything they deem as "adult-oriented material" and the possibility of "freezing" without warning any and all PayPal accounts of both merchants who sell such material and the customers who purchase it) have made it impossible for us to offer this option. For instance, the purchase of any one of our romance books, whether erotica or otherwise, through PayPal (anything that deals directly with or suggests human sexuality or contains references to sexual contact in any form) could put us (and you) in jeopardy, since there seems no rhyme or reason for what is considered "acceptable" by their policy standards. Therefore, we felt it best not to put our customers' PayPal accounts at risk of being frozen and cleaned out simply because they purchased an erotica or erotic romance book that some "policy keeper" at PayPal deems inappropriate and obscene. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but please understand we have no say in the matter concerning PayPal's policies. (For more information on this policy, please log in to your PayPal account and read their "Acceptable Usage Policy" to see how your personal account might be at serious risk of being closed down and your dollar balance confiscated without notice.) This is the main reason why most online book publishers have stopped using PayPal as a payment option for their customers.
